Seizing the road
April 30th, 2009I went for a walk up the twin tunnels today with Gus. It was raining so there was no one around. Just me and the empty road.
I was about 30 minutes from my car when around a bend walked a man in green -his hood up and a pack on his back. My first thought was alarm because, if he were at all aggressive, I had very few options. But he seemed ok and waved hello as he passed.
Later, he walked into the coffee shop in town and the guys behind the counter started asking him questions. It turns out he’s walking across the US -starting in Astoria and going all the way to Washington DC.
He figures it will take him 8 months.
