I thought maybe this was about we, those of us with affluenza, drowning in our many useless objects. But no, it was an ad for a business to help us box up and keep our many useless objects, kind of like a dam holds back the water.

I *loved* this. Thought it was hilarious enough to read about the dancing guy, esp. because I wondered how in the hell he was able to afford dancing in all those countries. Turns out he's not rich, he's just good at marketing himself and getting someone else to pay for his travel. Very funny.

So very glad to see you back on carpevia, not that I would trade the Gus updates for anything. It's nice to know that eventually the mind can worm its way back (or work in conjunction?) with the new things its processing around the baby wonderment. Love the video and now I may have to rewatch Amelie too.

Balmain is a great place to live. And you'd have a great neighbour... with a yard... and kayaks in it...
As for lack of local cafes, "isolation" and your other quibbles... that really was some depression kicking in. Or are you talking about a different Balmain?
Look forward to having you as neighbours!!

many places have had cultures tha that have existed for millenia. Most them just evolved and grew into different forms over time. In fact we know that there has been culture in places for at least 50k years.

So I am still not clear on how people think that Australia is the only continuing culture. All cultures are continuations of previous generations.

The Australians surely came from a culture that was already in existence elsewhere.

The folks in China and the Middle East had culture before the advent of agriculture. I am sure if you had the ability to live forever you would find cultures that were in existence long before folks landed in Australia.

You would also find that familial groups and clans stayed together and over time they would morph into different groups or whatever. So you cannot say that other places had no culture just because current populations do not mirror ancient patterns of culture.

Instead of continuing I think people might want to say static?
