Yes, if all goes well, Charles and I will be having a kid in mid-February.

So, in an effort to keep from writing all about babies on this blog, I’ve started a new one which will also turn into an ongoing scrap book as it goes:

www.7000days.com

(Seven thousand days is approximately how long it will be before it moves out on its own)

If you want to start at the beginning, go to June 21st and read from there.

Tuesday Willingness

Drove up to the Blue Mountains today. We got to see lots of cute towns but, when we finally found a look-out, could only see grey clouds where the valley usually sits. Literally a wall of fog.

Plus I forgot to take pictures.

So, here you go Aunt Lani -this is what it usually looks like:

We did have good coffee though. Maybe I’ll dig up the coffee cups from this morning and you can hold it up in front of the computer and I’ll take another photo. No one will know.

Monday Clarity

Great day at the zoo.

We got lucky and all the Australian animals were uncharacteristically lively.

We even saw a kangaroo poo.

But the tigers were the real amazement. Pacing and playing. Huge paws mere centimetres away from the tasty children morsels bobbing up and down in front of them.

Thursday Healing

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

I ended up going for a walk and then going to bed early last night.

Not my usual super cheery self today but feeling better at any rate.

I read a passage from a zen book last night (which I don’t do often enough) and it basically reminded me that emotions are no more (or less) important than straightening the pencils on my desk.

So today I focused on just plugging away at work. Pausing every now and then to notice that yes, I’m feeling generally blah and dissatisfied. But there doesn’t seem to be any particular reason for it, so back I go into the reading and writing and thinking.

And then rented Mission Impossible 3 tonight, ate burritos and had a nice glass of the white wine Cath brought by last Friday.

I can already feel the healing.

Monday Peace

Full of anxiety today. No particular reason. Just a good old fashioned dose of free floating stress.

Mom would say it’s the full moon.

There’s been a coup in Fiji.

The opposition party overturned their leader here in Australia.

I accidentally stood someone up for coffee this morning. But I was able to meet her later this afternoon. Same cafe but much quieter I’m sure. We were the last ones in the place as the barista wiped down the counters and unscrewed the handles off the machine.

Went for a little drive in the Mini this evening with the top down and checked out an old boat docks park as the sun set over the city near Charles childhood home.

Searched for houses with xmas lights.

When we got back, my favourite cat was outside on his steps. So I got to sit and pet him for awhile.

Oh, and thanks to Amber, I have an advent calendar to open each night.
